After thousands of miles over the ocean, the clockwise spin
of the earth brings air currents ashore along our country's
Pacific coast. Located at the mid-point between North
Pole and equator of this shoreline, is America's Wild Rivers
Coast. Many believe the unusual formations of nature
on display here, can be traced to the unique climatic
circumstances generated by this location.
Like the southwest coast of New Zealand, its counterpart
at the mid-way point in the southern hemisphere, America's
Wild Rivers Coast boasts one of the country's mildest
year-round temperatures. Offshore temperate ocean
breezes make snow or freezing a rarity. Likewise rare,
are the times the thermometer peaks over 80 degrees.
Rain is bountiful, as is an abundance of sunshine, very
frequently counting both on the same day. This
accounts for the green, green, everywhere green of America's
Wild Rivers Coast.

Spring, summer and
fall boast more days of temperate breeze &
sunshine than any coastal area from Canada to San
Francisco. In winter, dense storm clouds,
sheets of rain, patches of fog, frames of blue,
and sunshine too, will share the skies on a single
day. Let yourself be lured out of
doors to watch, and become part of, our amazing
year round temperate coastal climate.

Lest you draw a wrong impression, the
winter months can host incredibly powerful storms with
gale force winds, pounding 30 foot ocean waves, and
horizontal sheets of rain sufficient to drench a
countryside within seconds. Perhaps even more
incredible are the sudden breaks in dark storm cloud
formation, giving way to patches of blue sky and bright
sunshine.
Dynamic, dramatic and powerful are
descriptions used by those who choose to visit during
winter storm season, with post-storm beach combing and
wave watching reported as the best ever.
Savvy hikers and bikers learn to plan
their summer ventures heading in a north to south
direction so as to keep the sometimes gusty, north summer
breezes at their back.
