Activity - HIKING

preview HIGHLIGHTS here

Hiking, walking or casual strolling on trails throughout America's Wild Rivers Coast can take you along scenic shores, beneath towering forest canopies, or on a riverside meander.   Coastal trails can lead you atop towering cliffs, with high headland vistas, past sea stack pounding surf, to beaches joining to calm bays and harbors.  Choose wisely, and then let yourself go!

Suddenly feel dwarfed standing alongside a felled giant redwood log.  How old?  How tall?  What fate?

Whether you're an occasional or experienced hiker, be prepared to feel, wonder, and ponder your experiences along the many trails atop ocean cliffs, across sandy beaches, along meandering rivers, and through dense, primordial forest.

Fresh clean air, quiet solitude while viewing the rugged Pacific Ocean, are sure to stimulate a pause, a couple of deep breaths, an ahhh, and awareness of the reason people benefit from escaping everyday life from time to time.  Perhaps the time will be right to sight a humpback whale breaking the surface, or it blowing to exhale, or an osprey soaring to the nest directly overhead clutching its salmon prey, or perhaps a bald eagle perched above surveying opportunities.  You'll find yourself trying to stand perfectly quiet and still so as not to disturb as you come upon wildlife in their natural home setting.

For distance hikers, the wild rivers coast trails link communities providing a wide choice of accommodations, dining and entertainment.
